Breathtakingly beautiful, especially the scene of Luna flying with Fawkes. This is a proper way to say one's goodbyes.
Some might consider Luna "loopy" or "loony". Well, she's different, but by no means loony. She's a Huffy, a Claw and a Gryffie in one, an extremely complex and highly lovable character.
In this story it's as if she suddenly aged several years, much more serious, much more adult. But in war people grow up much faster, we already knew that.
Your love to Luna is clearly visible, you've put much effort to make her ... Lunaish. She's extremely well written!
Congratulations on this wonderful small piece, Carl!
Wow! thanks for reviewing this both here and at HPFF. I'm glad you liked Luna's characterization and the dream imagery. In some ways it makes me think of Harry in your story flying as a condor--but with a bit different meaning.
Your reviews always make me feel good.
