Forever Fading by Elena

Rated: MA18+ • 5 Reviews starstarstarstarstar
Summary:

Huge *huggles* goes to Jessi_Rose for the wonderful banner and to Hermione006 for being the bestest Beta ever! :)

Two people fighting on opposite sides but sharing a love for each other that is so strong, that not even a war or living separate lives could tear them apart. But what happens when their love can no longer be denied?

This story is AU and is based loosely on DH, so spoilers may appear. This is a Severus/Lily story, so some dedicated James/Lily fans may not appreciate this fic.

Helleoooo! I'm heere! :D First of all, let me say how much I love Severus/Lily, so I was going all SQUEEE when I saw your request :P

Now onto the story, and all trace of SQUEEing is gone. This was absolutely stunning. It broke my heart to bits, but was done so elegantly along the way. From the very start, when Severus was trying to tell her something was up, even though their romance was so sweet and so pure and so perfect, I was preparing myself for something really bad.

And then you hit us with it! He's a Death Eater, and that's got to be the end of all Sev/Lily. EXCEPT I really hope it's not. Because the way you portray their relationship is so ... astounding, really. All the way through, I couldn't spot a word that sounded awkward or out of place, and the way you wield your language creates all these emotions, and really, Elena, it's amazing. You did an excellent job of making me cry.

I'm so glad this isn't just a one-shot. I'll get right over to the next chapter, so expect me back soon ;) Oh - wait, did I really forget to say I straight away gave you 10/10?!

Author's Response:

Awwwww Em *huggle* Thank you so much. I'm so glad you got wrapped up in the emotion of the story as that was what I'm trying to do. I'm not sure how I will end this story, but there is a long way to go before things end.

I'm sorry I made you cry, but YAY too!! When I had this idea, I couldn't make it a one shot. There's too much to this tale to end it. So there is more, but that will come shortly :)

Wooah ... again, this was heartbreakingly beautiful. You have the Marauders spot on, and that's a big achievement to get me to say that when I adore them and they're bullies in this! But they WERE bullies, and seeing it from Sev and Lily's point of view just emphasises that. When James said, "Think you're funny, do you?" I don't know why, but that really strongly reminded me of Draco in one of the films. Whether it was intentional or not, it added another dimension to that part, and I liked it. But really, really, amazing chapter. Please say you're not stopping here! You have this brilliant way of getting inside your characters, and then making the reader feel everything they are. When James is beating up Sev, I want to scream at him, when Lily's crying on her own, I want to go and cry with her ... this is excellent.

10/10, again. I love it. And I really hope there's going to be another chapter soon :)

Author's Response:

No, I'm not stopping here, there is a long way to go. I'm unsure if I make this a canon ending or a AU ending yet, but the journey for Sev and Lily has only just begun. I think I had Draco in mind when I wrote that line...It's from the first movie, where he introduces himself to Harry and says that line when Ron laghs at Draco's name!

I can just see James as that arrogant little pig, picking on my poor Sev :( I'm also happy that you feel that I have the Marauders right...I was a bit worried about that as I don't have much experience in writing their characters. But we'll see how I go :)

Again, I'm glad you felt the emotion of the characters..It's important to the story that you do, as this won't be a happy, fluffy piece, although, there may be moments ;)

Again, thank you so much for reviewing. More will come as soon as I can get it up :) I'm also glad you liked it!

Fabulous banner by Violet at SAYS! Dark times were ahead of them, a war was fast approaching, but for one young couple, they knew how to find a way to survive it and find love.

ZOMFGSQUEEEEEEE! I really helped inspire this? I did? *bows down* but before I go all fangirly on your *fangirls* I must review the story!

You, my dear, are a fantastically fantabulously AWESOME writer and I love this piece to DEATH. It's very rare you find a Hogwarts fic with James and Lily being together already, and I love it because you don't have all the clichéd arguing and then falling in love stuff :D You portray their relationship beautifully, they are so adorable and yet so ... mature? Your Lily is a great, well-rounded character and she seems so realistic without having typical Lily-characteristics and therefore she's a fabulous non-clichéd girl. I love her. And oh! your James! I mean awwww! I have just fallen in love with him right there ;) He's so witty, charming and hilarious, just as he should be. You have SO done him justice and I am enormously glad of that because I am a total James fangirl!

And then your angsty bit in the middle - I mean, wow. James' emotions were so raw, I just wanted to cry for him. And Lily ... you have created for them this absolutely fantastic, romantic relationship with that underlying suggestion of the pain they're going to experience in their future, in James' grieving. It's wonderful, and heartbreaking! And of course your Sirius was perfect, his anger so sad and so real. And I love the way you have Peter as a proper part of their 'gang', sharing in their grief and his own. You've got such a range of emotions in here, and every one of them portrayed fantastically, Elena.

And then that ending! Oh, my! It was absolutely GORGEOUS! I think it was this line which really made me go .... EEEEEEEEEE-AWWW-SQUEEEEE ... It was about love, something so pure and so mutually felt that nothing could touch it or destroy it. It was such a hopeful, beautiful ending to all that sadness.

I am just in love with this one, Elena. It's stunning. 10/10, if you hadn't guessed ;)

So second time lucky - hope this one works!

10/10 for you, andypandy! That is just about the most ADORABLE thing I've read in about a million years. SO CUTE and SO FLUFFY and just basically GORGEOUS. I love it to the stars and back.
As you know, I got a little confused at the beginning, but actually I think it was great that I had to keep reading to find out what happened - good narrative hook, you English student, you!
I love how you even got Tonk's clumsiness in there, too! Fantastic! I had this silly little grin on my face all the way through this short 'n' sweet little story, all their flirting and Tonk's hair changing with her mood ... <3
Your Charlie is great! How old are they in this? I hope he's not too young for me to steal and marry :P This was sooo cute, I know I keep saying it but it really was! For something you must've spun out in one morning it's really an excellent job. You can tell you had fun writing it (or at least I assume you did!) because it's just so warm and grin-inducing.

I think you should do a collection of stories on this vein, but that's just me and my compulsion to feed my fluff addiction! Seriously, though, this is really gorgeous stuff.

I love it. That's all :D
