Ah! The origins of the flock of birds spell. Interesting that Albus himself invented it. He is a bit Hermionie-ish in this story, isn't he? Maybe that is why he knew how she would think and help Harry in making the right decisions in DH. This also depicts clearly why he became a professor after graduating. For some reason, I just clicked with Helena PEVERELL and her Invisibility cloak. Very interesting, that. I can't believe I just realied that. So, grandma to Harry? Hmmm. Good chapter.

Albus is a bit full of himself still here, isn't he. The situation with Aberforth and his family is tense at best, and as we know, it is only about to get worse. I like the interaction between Albus and his friends. That he is a bit of a rule breaker is not surprising, but it is fun to read! I had a feeling that would be why he never scolded Harry and crew too badly for bending the rules a bit. Well done.

Hehe.. I love that Dumbledore invented this bird charm. I love the continued story line here and I'm enjoying this. I hope you continue to write this because I'm definitely interested and liking this so far! Great job and I look forward to more!

I've been meaning to read this for awhile and I really like it so far. It's interesting to think what Dumbledore's family life was like and I think you've done a great job so far. It's sad that Ariana doesn't really recognize Albus, but it seems right for that to happen. I also like that this is showing the not-so-good side of Dumbledore, kind of showing that he wasn't perfect from the beginning (or at the end for that matter). You've created a nice picture of teenage Dumbledore so far and I'm looking forward to more!

You did an excellent job of describing Albus' home life. It was very sad and it made him more relatable to the future HP characters. He has parallels with Snape's life and his friend is an orphan like Riddle. It also shows why Albus loves Hogwarts so much, like most of the characters, it is his real home. Nicely done!

Obviously, it's been a long time since I read the other version of this chapter, but I can see that some things are different - noticeably that you are showing Albus as jealous OF Helena, not jealous FOR her. Since his distraught feelings aren't due to lovesickness anymore, it makes him seem ... more egotistical. I mean, if I remember right he was pretty egotistical in the old version, too. I can see where Helena's future actions (not revealed yet on here) and Albus's attitude have the potential to drive a major wedge between them. And did Dog's comment about him staring at Jack Kelly mean what I think it means?

Author's Response: Thanks for reviewing! Yeah, I'm really trying to get rid of anything suggesting that Al has romantic feelings for Hel...I don't want him to be bisexual. And hopefully I haven't made him TOO egotistical, but if he's kind of a jerk then he has that much more room to grow, right? And Dog's comment is a red herring ^_^. I just couldn't help myself.

Well. This was quite a change from the Gryffies. It seems as thought you've set up a trio of sorts with Elphias, Helena and Albus, and that you have a lot of ideas for them. I hope you will update. I'd like to read more and see how you develop relationships and plots.
I think you did a particularly nice job with the relationship among the siblings -- Albus, Aberforth & Ariana.

Author's Response: Shows I'm a bit more versatile, eh? =D I intended to update a while ago but as my hard drive exploded, the only copy of the fic is on the internet. And, since the story is "hidden" in on HPFF I can only access it through Manage Stories, and since the queue is closed that doesn't work...I didn't realise it would be this complicated to update! Thanks so much for the review, though. I really appreciate it.

I'm so happy to see this on here! It seems different than I remember it, but it has been a long time since I read this chapter. I'm also guessing that some of the post-announcement changes have made it seem different as well. I really like the interactions between Albus and his family..
