Chapter: Solving the Riddle
I totally loved this story. I think the way the historian speaks is absolutely spot on and I love your use of vocabulary.
Now, the one thing I found a bit odd, even if 50 years had gone by is that he seemed to know too little about Voldemort. I know that you try to explain it away by saying that no-one would speak to him about him and that most of his contemporaries were now dead, but still, you would have thought that the Prophect would have publish someone or some information would have leaked, although, granted, as a good historian, he didn't just take rumours as facts.
I really enjoyed seeing Draco 50 years on. I was hoping that other canon characters might have shown up as well, and ah, poor Harry! Mind you, I can't complain here because I kill Harry off for a one-shot I wrote for a Valentine's challenge, so I'm just as cruel! lol
I reckon that you would make a wonderful horror writer, the scene at the grave is, well, very creepy, which I imagine you intended. You achieve this extremelly well. I take that Harry died in the final battle but that he took Voldy with him but he (LV) managed to attach himself to another human once more. It's nice that you keep it mysterious and no, I didn't see the end coming.
Also, I think it was very interesting to see that Harry's scar went further than skin deep, interesting touch...
Very well done!
Author's Response: thanks! ambiguity is precisely what i was going for.rnrnin terms of the 50 years, i wanted it to take place far enough in the future that most people around either weren't alive or too young to remember the events. all the old people still alive were either deathly afraid of voldy still, or in harry's case, dead. why they are dead, i leave to your imagination :-Prnrnalso, the circumstances of voldemort's defeat are ambiguous. the story was written pre-dh, even though it still works with dh for the most part. but if you turn dh off, then suddenly the circumstances of voldy's defeat can impact why these events have unfolded.
