you are correct in feeling the JK let down her readers with the ending of DH.
the epilogue has bugged a lot of people, so I have noticed on web sites about the Potter series.
your short blurb is nearly perfect, myself, I would have only added Harry stopping the ministry Aurors taking the Malfoys into custody.
Sorry I haven't responded . . . been away ( hubby's surgeries / life ) but I'm back and will clear up all unanswered reviews, starting here!
ANYWAY, I'm glad you like my little blurb . . . but I think Harry probably did intervene on the Malfoy's behalf, once the dust cleared . . . and the Ministry would have listened to ANYTHING he had to say. . . perhaps if the Malfoys did spend a short time in Azkaban, Harry's help would have meant that much more when it did arrive.
Am trying to get permission to post a new story ( admin is checking wether Rule #15 applies - we'll ) so keep an eye out, and then if it is posted, enjoy!
I just saw this on the random list, and after watching the last movie on DVD again, this is even more of a greater read. You did it so very well. Too bad Rowling didn't!
OH, there are LOTS of things we all wish JKR had done differently, but it is her book, and in the movie, at least, Narcissa is smart enough to grab Draco and get Lucius, Draco and herself outta there before Voldemort has a chance of "dealing with her" for lying to him. " Self preservation is a strong instinct ". Sorry it took so long to answer your review, have been EXTREMELY busy ( retirement is NOT sitting on my ass, relaxing - I'm busier than EVER! )
You are correct, it seems, as usual.
I thought that DH was a little rushed during the entire time before the battle and after. It was as though JK had a deadline and 'Word Count' she wanted to stay within.
Don't get me wrong, it was terrific, but after 7+ years. it sort of just fell off the table at the end.
AH, but that's where fan fiction comes into play! WE make it all better! Glad you liked this little bit and am also gald you agree!
Oh, and thansk for the review . . .I give out a lot of 'em but rarely receive any . . but that's okay, as long as there's a read count, I can live w/o the reviews.
READ ON, Granpa, READ ON!
This is the Good Slytherin speaking :) It seems that you have an unhealthy :) and very productive interest to the reformation of the Malfoy family. Definitely an interesting theme, worth some serious, quality exploration work, this time from the pen of Professor Holly_Ilex.
Everything you were saying in your end notes had a valid point.
A perfect 10, yet again.
I tackled this very theme in Chapter 8 of my cliche-packed novel, The Healer and The Heiress, albeit from a different prospective.
Its' not that I like Lucius, but JKR didn't kill him off, so with Narcissa's move it bacame apparent that it WAS a possibility . . .so, I ran with it. What better place to start that this scene. I continue this thought in "Journal Notes", "Birthdays and ANniversaries" and "The pleasure of your company" (awip).
Thanks for the R&R.
Thanks you for taking the time to review.
If Harry and Draco could nod at each other, 19 years later, it had to start SOMEWHERE, although I think they would have been more than just 'nodding' aquaintances, don't you?
Little bits of unfinished business and 'how did they get to this point' scenes in DH are making for some interesting stories, aren't they?
Again, thanks for the 'nod'!
HE!HE!HE!
I tried looking it up at the HP Lexicon, but they didn't seem to have any listing for 'Wizards Debt'. Will keep poking around . . . ANYWAY,
about this drabble . . .
Yeah, I gave Harry and Cissa a little 'moment' as they are the only ones who know how truly dangerous it was when Cissa made her decision to help him. Harry , expecially, knows that she put her own life on the line to save his.
A hug was the least he could do and she's the one who put her arms out first, Harry just responded. As far as I'm concerned, it's an honor thing and wizards are VERY into honor and upholding tradition, etc. ESPECIALLY purebloods like the Malfoys, so Harry owing Cissa, well that's a bit of a shock, so Draco had to acknowledge HIS debt, too.
ANYWAY, I'll keep an eye out for the next chapter and leave a running bunch of smart mouthed comments (reviews) for you.
HE!HE!HE!
Jeez, this review and response is longer than the drabble!!!!!!
