I was in the middle of reading "The New Marauders" (as I've recently become hopelessly addicted to your writing) and thought I'd take a break (or should I say a breather). I was looking over your author page and saw that this was a one-shot and thought it would be a good way to clear my head. Yeah, I think you know where this is going. It took me about a minute to become taken in by the tragedy of Frankie's life. I'm very weak where child abuse is concerned. I tend to break down completely at it's mere mention. When I realized that poor little Frankie was actually the young Greyback, it hit me even harder. I'd read "Unforgiving Moon" already but even that fantastic story didn't help me see Greyback as clearly as this short bit about the young, innocent boy that the world sought so very hard to destroy. I think it's much like looking at dear little Jack and imagining how easily he could have grown into another Greyback if he hadn't gone to Hogwarts and found friendship and love. This child is himself such a tragic tale and your writings convey it all so brilliantly.

Author's Response:

Wow, Delia, thank you! I'm not sure what to say to all that?!

I'm glad you've been enjoying HP&tNM, and I'm really trying hard to finish it.

I got the idea that Greyback had a tragic childhood from thinking about Remus Lupin, my favorite character when I first read PoA. I don't think the books ever mentioned if Greyback was a Wizard or not, but I don't think he was. It made me wonder, if he was older, did Hogwarts reject him? Then the story was born.

Thanks again, and I hope you stay with 'us' through all our adventures!

For once . . .I can't find the words.

Brilliant, bloody brilliant.

Author's Response:

Wow, thanks!

That's something. I actually thought it kinda sucked...I just whipped it up over about 2 days for the contest.
