Chapter: Where It All Began
I agree with Taryn. This is very sad and very beautiful. the ending is especially touching. And it's very well written. Nicely done.

Oh my goodness. So many lovely moments in this story! This made me laugh:
“Which 'he'?” Salina asked with a laugh, knowing of only two boys that could raise the hackles of her roommate. “Snape or Potter?”
And this made me all misty:
Salina's hands trembled as the minister said his last words, their names ringing in the church like it had three years ago. This time there was no rose petals strewn down the aisle, and no rice thrown as the couple stepped out the double door. The tears being shed this time weren't joyous for this last journey the Potters were taking.
And that twist at the end! Very nice and well-written.

I think you do a great job of establishing the melancholy tone of the funeral, and it's very effective when mixed in with bittersweet-ish memories of Salina and Lily in between. For some reason I was thinking that Lina was in love with James. I'm not sure if I'm just not in the best comprehension mode or if you intended it. Either way, it was a surprise when Lina revealed her feelings to Severus after the funeral. It makes the whole thing that much more bitter (and sort of sweet)... I like this.

*blink* No, I did not see that coming. I completely did not expect this, not at all, juls. Amazing, amazing, AMAZING.
When I challenged you to write a Lily/James/OC songfic to Eleanor Rigby, I did NOT expect this. It's a bitter, angsty song, but you fit in just a little fluff. And that really made the story, the little flashbacks. They were perfect, and it hinted at the ending so subtly I didn't pick up on it until now! Lily and Lina were gorgeously characterized, I must say. We don't get to know either of them all that well, but it wasn't necessary at all because the emotions were there and... wow. Amazing stuff, really and truly.
It didn't matter that there wasn't that much James at all. Contrary to what I expected, the story wasn't about James and Lina, but Lily and Lina, and that just made it all the more wonderful. I certainly wouldn't have thought of it, so kudos to you! Subtly brilliant, tear-jerking, and excellent subtle incorporation of the song!!! Absolutely gorgeous job. OF COURSE you fulfilled the challenge! James/Lily/OC songfic to Eleanor Rigby, that was all there. But you took it to a new level, and I am SO ECSTATIC that you did! *cheers* A ten and favorites for you!!!!!!

Chapter: Where It All Began
I love this Juls!! I love the emotions behind the characters, I love how I'm misled in who Lina has/had feelings for and I loved, LOVED that Sev was there and Lina understood him and he understood her.
The memories were just sweet, but also a reminder of the life that Lily and James had, even when reading about the wedding, I still thought that Lina had feelings for James!
The end was just too sad, but sweet. Admitting that Lily knew how Lina felt, just not in 'that' way...was sweet and Sev knew...cause he felt it too. But letting Snape tell Harry and for Harry to visit her...it was just heart breaking.
Harry would never know either of what Lily really meant to Lina, but she'd always be remembered. Simply fantastic and this story really shows the brilliance you have when it comes to writing!!!
