As the review comp comes to a close and the winner is announced, I'll also have the task of updating the Featured Stories list.
As I don't always get the chance to read all of your wonderful stories, I'm hoping that you guys can help me out here.
On Temperance, Gluttony's forums, you can nominate stories to be featured. Like wise, you can also nominate a Star Member and also someone to be the Featured Author of the month. You can even nominate yourself and PM me if you don't wish to have your say publicly.
This site is for the members to, so you get to have YOUR say!!!
The Birthday Bash Competition is now Closed! Congratulations to SwissMiss and her daughter for their entry. They are the winner/s of this competition and the $20 Amazon Gift Voucher.
I will read the story to my daughter tomorrow and review the story with her reactions :) Thanks again for your entry.
If you wish to join in on this competition, you MUST get in your submissions today. Entries close at 11:59pm tonight (June 8th) - Standard Eastern Australian Time.
If your story is in the queue, I will validate them as per usual. The Queue has each story time stamped, so I'll know which ones to get through first for this comp :)
I only have 1 submission for this competition so far, so if you want a chance to with that $20 Amazon gift voucher, DON'T delay...Get your entries in!!!
Since I'm starting to see shorter chapter lengths come through, I have added in a new Category. Gluttony will now host Drabble's. They must be between 100 - 800 words in length to qualify for this category and the two sub-categories are Original Fiction and Harry Potter.
The Drabble Rule has been added to the Submission Rules list, at the bottom, labelled Rule 23.
If you think anything else should be added, just let me know :)
I have added a Responding to Reviews Tutorial, to help clear up any confusion as to how this process works. I'll try and make it easier and for those who have ended up reviewing themselves, DON'T worry about it, I have done it myself too!!
If anyone else has made this mistake, just let me know and I'll fix it up for you.

A new month brings new, exciting things to Gluttony. For the first time ever, I have chosen to highlight a member for a month.
Picking a member was difficult, as everyone here deserves to have the spotlight, but to start with, I chose a member who has been very active since joining Gluttony and also has the highest amount of reviews given. So please help me congratulate:
JLHufflepuff
Please visit the Featured Author link above (on the Menu Bar) and enjoy getting to know JLHufflepuff and her stories. If you wish to congratulate her, ask a question or just speak to JLHufflepuff, then visit the forums, where a thread has been set up to do this :)
Okay, I have updated the archive software, so if you encounter any errors or oddities, please let me know.
Also, I have activated the Reviews Received section in your Account Info. So if you go to your Account Info, you'll see a new link called Reviews Received. When you click on this, it will list the stories you have recieved reviews for and your unresponded reviews.
EDIT: I have also added in a new skin, it's called Teal Deer, I hope you like it :)
Well, we are just over the half way mark now and so far, 7 out of the 9 people who signed up for this competition are reviewing. These 7 people have reviewed 128 times!!!
That is just fantastic, so thank you guys for an outstanding effort and I hope the next couple of weeks left are filled with just as many reviews!!
With that said, don't think that you can't join in on the reviewing fun. You can still participate in this comp as I'm judging the most amount of reviews a person does in a month. So if you think you can beat the current participants in the last two weeks, then sign up on the forums! Remember, no one liners allowed!!
Morgana at EHPF has issued a challenge of sorts. To give tribute to a young man named Rob Knox.
For some of you, you may not even know who this is, but for some of us, it has hit us hard. Rob was a young boy who had a small role in the next Harry Potter movie, playing Marcus Belby.
Although his character was not a more well known one, it is still such a tradgedy that someone so young had died and in such a brutal way.
To Rob's family, we are sorry for your loss and hope that this will help keep the memory of him alive.
The link below is the URL to the Challenge spot for him. If you do write a short story/poem, add it to Gluttony, then go to the URL below and click the Respond to this Challenge link. From there, you may add your story to the tribute. The normal 800 Word count rule will be wavered for this.

The Mothers Day Competition is closed, no-one participated in it...Which is okay. The $20 Amazon Gift Voucher will now go to the Birthday Bash Competition.
I hope I get some takers..If not, I'll save the prize for another competition :)
Okay, the Review-A-Thon is still going on and getting lots of new reviews...There's still a couple of weeks left to go...so plenty of time to get those reviews in :)
The Mothers Day Competition hasn't had any responses...Disapointing, but I will say...There is still a chance to grab the $20 gift voucher!!! The Mothers Day Comp ends tomorrow (25th of May - 11:59pm Standard Eastern Australian Time). So get those entries in!!!
If the prize does NOT go to anyone, then the voucher will be up for grabs in the Birthday Bash Competition, which doesn't close till the 8th of June - Standard Eastern Australian Time.
Okay, I did have some navigational issues over at Temperance, for those using Internet Explorer. I seem to have fixed this problem now and all links now work in IE. If any IE users do encounter oddities or errors such as this, please don't hesitate to let me know. I am a FireFox user and forget to sometimes check that things work in all browsers.
Also, some members aren't getting their confirmation emails when they first sign up to Gluttony. Firstly, please check your spam or junk folders, sometimes emails will go into these folders and not your inbox, and if still no email arrives (should be almost straight away), then email me with your username and I can change your password to let you access the site.
you can contact me via the contact page or emailing me at: admin[at]gluttonyfiction[dot]com
The Featured Story List has been updated for May. Congrats to all who made it in this month.
A special congratulations needs to go to Labby. Her story, Of Dogs and Dragons MA18+, was the first to be nominated on Temperance (our forums) by merlins_pants.
To nominate a story to be on the featured list, please go here: http://www.gluttonyfiction.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=13
Also, I have installed a rotating header of the banners to the featured stories on Temperance :)
If the next story of EHPF's Story Club is on Gluttony, it too will make it into the featured section. So good luck to all the members at EHPF and I hope to see more of your brilliant stories here!
Review-A-Thon Competition
To participate and/or be counted, you must register at Temperance (our forums). The URL is: http://www.gluttonyfiction.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=87
I have also moved the participants thread so its visible on the main page.
The Review-A-Thon has started. Remember that this comp is running till the 13th of June. If you are new, or late signing up, don't worry. Just try and get in as many great reviews as you can :)
Good luck everyone, and I look forward to seeing some wonderful reviews! Also, while reviews may seem like a chore, this is a great way to get to know your fellow authors, their work and their writing style. You may find a new Author to keep an eye on or just simply fall in love with a new pairing, or just the story itself. Have fun with this :)
Happy Mothers Day to fellow mothers across the world!!
The Mothers Day competition has started as has the Birthday Bash...I hope to see some responses soon!!!
Gluttony's first lot of competitions, will start on May 9th, Australian Standard Time.
Birthday Bash
My eldset daughter will turn 5 next month. To celebrate her birthday, I'm giving you the opportunity to make a young girl smile.
You will need to write a story, GA rated and a childrens story at that. Can be HP related or original, your choice, must be at least 1000 words long and submitted by June 8th (australian time). I will read EACH story to my daughter and the winner will be the one she chooses as her favourite.
My daughter likes animals, the colours orange and yellow and musical things. This will be posted as a challenge. When the story is completed, add it to gluttony and then add it to the challenge as a response.
The winner's prize is yet to be determined, I do know that the winner and the runners two runners up will be featured. I just haven't decided what the main prize will be as yet. Possibly another amazon voucher, but I wanted something different. We'll see, so stay tuned.
Mothers Day Competition:
The lead up to Mothers Day can be hectic, I know it is for me. So I'm running this competition starting on Mothers Day 12:00am May 11, 2008 - Standard Eastern Australian Time and it will run for two weeks, ending on 11:59pm May 25, 2008 -Standard Eastern Australian Time.
Entries will be in the form of a story. Harry Potter Fan Fiction related or original fiction, 1000 words minimum, betaed or un-betaed, your choice. The topic will be about 'Mother's'. Use your own imagination as to the content, an ode to Mrs. Weasley or your own dedication to YOUR mother.
The winner will recieve a $20 Amazon gift voucher. The winner will be picked my myself and my decision is final. Two runners up will be selected too and your stories, along with the winner's will be featured. To enter this competition, post your story on Gluttony, go to the Challenges section and add your story as a response to the competition.
Good luck and have fun!

Review-A-Thon, will commence on the 14th of this month (Standard Australian Time). All details are on the forum: http://www.gluttonyfiction.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=87&p=219#p219
Registration to the forum is required, all information and rules are set out at the above link URL. The winner will receive a $20 Amazon Gift Voucher and this is open to ALL members of Gluttony. Have fun and good luck!
Love to shop at Amazon? Please don't be afraid to click on my associates button with Amazon. The more I get in my account, the more I can give back to you in prizes!!
On the Jelly skin, you'll see one of the prizes I wanted to buy as a prize. I really want one myself, and still may get them, if I can work out postage!!
If you haven't signed up to Temperance, Gluttony's forums, then do so if you wish. All competitions will be posted there and also polls and things will be given to see what you want out of a story archive site :)
Juls made a fantastic suggestion, and that was to have a story collaboration as a competition. I thought this was a great idea and thought that it would be like a writers duel, but in the form of a collaboration.
You'd not just be judged on your story, but on your participation throughout the process in making the collaboration work. Does something like this interest you and would you participate?
I have set up a poll on the forums, the link is here: http://www.gluttonyfiction.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=82
You do have to be a member of the forum to vote, as the discussions etc will take place there and its only open to Gluttony members. Prizes and things like that are also open for discussion.
Okay, I'm trying to get back into my writing. I've improved on my writers block slightly. I know have two paragraphs written in a 6hr block, so that is better then the few words that I was stuck on! But will I try and get past this block, I may not be on here for a few days.
Speaking of which, I'm still trying to figure out what prizes to give away for comptitions. I wanted to get my first one started by the 14th of next month, as that will be Gluttony's 3rd month of operation, but I don't think that's going to happen. Apparently, Amazon will not post to Australia on certain items, due to warrenty issues. So this has put a halt into my intial plan for prizes.
If any of you have any ideas or have a cool idea what prizes would be to give away or even what kind of competitions you'd like to see here, let me know. I'm all open for suggestions and if I can get these things done, I will :)
Also, please remember that if there is anything at all you want to see on Gluttony, just let me know. I origionally opened the archive just so I could have a place to host my stories, but then I had all this space to utilise, so that's why its open to the public. However, this can also be what you want it to be. So if there is anything at all you'd like to see or change, don't be afraid to speak up.
Congratulations to Juls who has accepted a role as Validator at Gluttony :)
I'm sorry I have not given Gluttony enough attention these last couple of weeks. My girls were sick with the Flu, so between doctor's visits and attending to them, I haven't had much time to be on here.
The girls are recovering and once I get a bit more sleep, I might actually feel half human again. I'm still trying to keep my eyes open and its 1:05pm!!
